Summertime Sunshine!

It's pretty much Summer here in Tennessee so it's only right to post about the sun. As you may well know I am a pale gal and I have to be careful when I'm out and about in the sun. I thought I would talk about my favorite products for Summer!

Well, obviously I have to have sunscreen and so should you! Even if you are trying to tan you should wear a some sunscreen. Our skin needs protection even if we feel like it doesn't. My favorite sunscreen is Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen

This sunscreen lotion comes in three strengths of spf 12, 30, or 50. It is amazing how great this feels on the skin. It really is like a lotion. It's very moisturizing and luxurious feeling with the hydrating silk ribbons it features. I first got this from Influenster and fell in love with it. I use it every Summer now. It also has a wonderful scent. This is not your typical sunscreen.

I was recently in the pool and got a touch of sunburn. Nothing too severe but still bothersome. Here are a few things I really like to use during the healing process. I love a good lotion. There is nothing worse than getting a sunburn and your skin drying out or worse peeling. You need to keep it moisturized. I like this Soothing Aloe Refreshing Moisturizer from Jergens.

This lotion is my number one pick. It works great for my skin. It replenishes my skin quickly. I use this after the sun and after I shower until the burn is completely healed. This is a very cooling lotion. It is just relaxing and refreshing to put on parched skin.

If you are one of the lucky people who burn then you have most likely encountered the dreadful SUNBURN ITCH. It is the worst thing to experience. You are finally over the hurt stage of your burn and then what is that sensation you feel...oh yes the horrendous itching all over your body. Now you could scratch it, of course, but I would highly recommend that you do not do that for any reason! You will just make everything worse by scratching it in the slightest way.

You will want to have some benadryl on hand for this process. It really helps with that itch. You will probably go to bed earlier each night, but hey that is just a small price to live without the itching. Also the lotion will help with the itch. At first when you put lotion on all you will think about is the itching that starts moments after you are finished lathering up. Don't worry it will subside sooner than you think. Also a good thing to have is some ibuprofen handy. It will help with the pain and irritation of the sunburn.

I know that sunburn isn't always preventable. I was burned even with sunscreen on. These are just a few things that help me when I have been a little irresponsible with my sunscreen application. To prevent sunburn you need to follow the directions on the bottle of your sunscreen. Usually applying the sunscreen 15 minutes before sun exposure and reapplying it after 80 minutes.

I hope everyone has a wonderful protected sun filled Summer!
